Last September, the collaboration between menswear chain Suitable and Drop & Loop began. Since then, customers have been able to hand in their old or unwanted clothing at every Suitable store. Since its founding in 1996, Suitable has had the goal of working sustainably in all aspects of its operations. The partnership was therefore a logical choice for founder and owner Raoul van Dun: “To truly be at the top, you have to give back to the earth. That calls for further steps towards sustainability.”
Respect for people and the environment
The gilets are part of the Suitable Respect clothing line. These are collections that Suitable designs and produces in-house. For this, they work with ateliers in India, Thailand, China and Turkey that have proven to work responsibly. The Respect garments are made from certified organic cotton or recycled polyester and, as far as possible, dyed with natural dyes. During production, extra focus was placed on the quality of the fabrics and the comfort of the fits. In addition, the designs are deliberately timeless so that they can be worn stylishly regardless of the latest fashion trends.
100% sustainably recycled
The gilets by Drop & Loop consist entirely of recycled fibres from collected clothing. The Wolkat factory in Tangier, Morocco plays the leading role in this. Usable garments are given a second life by donating them to communities all over the world. The rest of the old clothing is cleaned and sorted by hand by colour and material. What's special is that they use no water, dyes or chemicals during recycling. Because the entire process takes place under one roof, unnecessary CO2 emissions and energy are saved. The number of circular Suitable Respect garments is expected to increase.

Drop & Loop is an organisation committed to a sustainable world. Their focus is on reducing textile incineration. By reusing or recycling as many worn garments as possible, we lend the environment a hand and make the Netherlands circular. Through special collection points spread across the Netherlands and Belgium, Drop & Loop takes used clothing to Wolkat's sorting centre. Here, as many garments as possible are given a second life. The remnants are processed into new clothing or other textile products.
